Shona Brown has served as one of our directors since August 2019 and Lead Independent Director since February 2021. From January 2013 until November 2015, she served as a senior advisor to Google Inc., an Internet search and technology company. From April 2011 to December 2012, Dr. Brown served as Senior Vice President of Google.org, Google Inc.’s charitable organization. From 2003 to 2011, Dr. Brown served as Vice President and later as Senior Vice President, Business Operations of Google Inc. Since November 2015, Dr. Brown has served on the board of directors of Atlassian Corporation, an enterprise software company, and currently serves as its Chairperson. She serves on the board of directors of several non-profit organizations, and previously served on the board of directors of PepsiCo, Inc., a food and beverage company. Dr. Brown holds a B.Eng. in Computer Systems Engineering from Carleton University, an M.A. in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management.
